Bacolod Food-Trip!

6:23 AM

Masskara Festival is once again fast approaching! So let me give you a comprehensive guide on how one can spend a day in Bacolod and indulge with the delicious food the city has to offer.

Not only known for its pastries and desserts, Bacolod City as the Sugar Capital of the Philippines is also a haven for culinary masterpieces. Restaurants like Imays, Bar 21, Mu Shu, Aboys, and Bobs are only a few of the best restaurants in the city that could give your taste buds one hell of a treat!

Lets start with Breakfast
Start the day right and have a delicious cup of coffee at Kuppa, located at Capitol Shopping Centre. You could never go wrong with their menu and not to mention the best tasting coffee in town.

On the other hand, If you're quite having a filipino appetite, you might want to go to Bob's at B.S. Aquino, North Drive, in front of Riverside Hospital. Bob's restaurant is a Bacolod original that serves authentic ilonggo dishes, a variety of western dishes, and its famous/all-time-favorite sate babe.

After breakfast spend some time for a city tour, stroll along the parks such as the Provincial Capitol Lagoon, People's House (Formerly the New Government Center), Bacolod Plaza, and/or the San Sebastian Cathedral. Just enough leisure walks to prep your tummy for lunch!

Now Lets have Lunch at Imay's. Located at 6th Street Lacson, Imay's serves the best home-recipes, sea-food favorites, and ilongo specialties! A few of my favorite dishes here includes: Krispy Kangkog for appetizer, Adobo Squid, Baked Talaba (Oysters), Cansi, Sinigang (Fish/Prawn), Cripy Pata, and Calamares!

On the other hand, if you are more of a budget traveler and would really like to try authetic Ilongo dishes, try Eron's or Sharyn's Cansi house along Capitol-Shopping Centre. Cansi is the ilongo version of Bulalo that is a Must Try! This will surely blow you taste buds and make you order more rice!!! These two Cansi house serves the best Cansi in town; a bowl of Cansi can serve atleast 3-4 persons.

How about some Desserts?
Yes! Dessert is Bacolod's Forte! We have Calea, FeliciasC's and Bob's Cafe to help you satisfy your cravings for sugar!

For Itinerary sake, I suggest you go to Calea at the District, Ayala which is very near to the famous Ruins known as the Taj Mahal of Negros. It would be nice to spend the sunset there after a delightful slice of cake and a cup of coffee/tea from Calea.

Now save the best for Dinner! Head your way to Manokan Country in front of SM City Bacolod for its World-Famous Bacolod-Chicken Inasal! Look for Aida's or Nena's Rose food-turf for the best-tasting-authentic Chicken Inasal! Do it with Chicken Oil and Garlic on your rice, eat with your fingers, and enjoy the taste of heaven! :)
